Round Robin tournament

Rules, configuration and management of a Round Robin tournament.

Round Robin is a format where every pair or player faces every other participant exactly once. The schedule is known in advance and the final standings depend entirely on actual playing strength — every match carries the same weight. The number of matches grows with the number of participants: with 6 pairs that is 15 matches, and with 8 pairs already 28.

To start a tournament in this format, simply select Round Robin when creating the event. The key decision is choosing the scoring mode. Ready-made presets are available corresponding to popular competition systems — for example one set to 21 with deuce, or best of 2 sets to 21.

The organiser panel shows the tournament settings: the scoring mode, the maximum number of pairs, and the type of competition (singles, doubles, mixed, standard pairs). The scoring mode defines how many sets are played per match and how many points are needed to win each set. Settings can be changed up until the competition is launched.

The additional settings section allows you to change the tournament name, date and description. These fields are hidden by default and can be revealed using the 'Show additional settings' button.

The system shows a helpful note about the current number of participants and the total number of matches they will need to play with this field size. It is worth checking before the start — if the match count is very high (for example above 40), the system suggests considering the Swiss system, which is more practical with a large number of participants.

Players can be added manually from the organiser panel. In Round Robin there is no seeding — only the name of the player or pair and their type matter. The order on the list has no effect on the tournament, since the schedule covers everyone against everyone.

Adding a player or pair

Instead of adding players manually, you can use the import function. Simply paste the list of participants in the required format and the system will process it automatically.

Another way to collect entries is via an online form. The organiser shares a unique link with players, who can then fill in the form themselves with their pair name, phone number, and email address. Once submitted, the entry joins the pending queue and waits for the organiser to approve it.

Every new form submission appears in the organiser panel on the pending list. The organiser can accept or reject it. Once accepted, the player receives an email notification and the pair is added to the official participant list.

When the participant list is ready, the organiser checks a checkbox confirming that the list of present players has been reviewed. This activates the button to generate the schedule and launch the competition. All matches are generated in one go at the start — there is no division into rounds.

Once the tournament is launched, the organiser sees a full table of all matches. With a large number of participants the table can be long — it can be filtered by pair name to quickly locate a specific match. A match counter is visible in the header (for example 3/15).

Results are entered separately for each set. The number of sets matches the chosen scoring mode. A match row changes colour once results have been saved correctly — green means the match is complete, yellow means a court has been assigned. A result that does not match the configuration (for example an invalid set score) is flagged in red before saving.

The tournament can be finished at any point — there is no need to wait for all matches to be played. Finishing requires checking a checkbox and clicking the button. Once finished, standings are available in a combined table and a PDF with the classification.

The system also allows a finished tournament to be reactivated, for example to correct a result or when not all matches were played before the tournament was closed. This action requires the appropriate checkbox to be checked before the button is clicked.
